Detailed information on cookies
This website uses cookies and similar technologies to ensure the proper functioning of procedures and improve the experience of online applications. This document provides detailed information on the use of cookies and similar technologies, how they function on this Website, and how to man- age them.
Definitions
Cookies are short fragments of text (letters and/or numbers) that allow the web server to store in- formation on the client (the browser) to be reused during the same visit to the site (session cook- ies) or later, even days later (persistent cookies). Cookies are stored, according to user prefer- ences from the browser on the specifically used device (computer, tablet, smartphone). Similar technologies, such as web beacons, transparent GIFs, and all forms of local storage introduced with HTML5, can be used to gather information on user behavior and service use. Further in this document, we shall refer to all cookies and similar technologies by simply using the word “cookies”.
Types of Cookies
Based on the characteristics and use of cookies, we can distinguish various categories: “Technical” cookies (analysis and performance). These cookies are used to anonymously collect and analyze site traffic and site use. Even without identifying the user, these cookies detect, for example, if the same user returns to connect at different times. They also allow for monitoring the system and im- proving its performance and usability. These cookies may be deactivated without any loss of func- tionality.
Profiling cookies.
These are permanent cookies used to identify (anonymously or not) user preferences and improve their browsing experience. Our site does not use cookies of this kind.
Third-party cookies
Upon visiting a website, one may receive cookies either from the website visited (“owners”) or from websites operated by other organizations (“third parties”). A notable example is the “social plugin” for Facebook. These are web page elements generated directly by the websites and integrated into the pages of the host website. The most common use of social plugins aims at sharing content on social networks.
These plugins require cookies to be sent to and from all websites operated by third parties. The information collected by “third parties” shall be governed by the relevant information, so please re- fer to them if needed. In order to guarantee greater transparency and convenience, the following list provides links to different cookies policies.

Duration of cookies
Some cookies (session cookies) remain active only until the browser is closed or the logout com- mand is performed. Other cookies “out last” the browser’s closure and remain available for future visits. These cookies are called persistent cookies. Their duration is set by the server upon cre- ation. In some cases, this duration is fixed. In others, it is unlimited.
Management of cookies
The user can decide whether to accept cookies via browser settings. Caution: the total or partial disabling of technical cookies does not compromise the use of the site’s features. The setting can be defined specifically for different websites and web applications. Furthermore, the best browsers allow for different “proprietary” or “third parties” cookies settings.
For example, under the Tools -> Options -> Privacy menu in Firefox you can access a control panel and specify whether you want to accept certain cookies or remove them.
